Becoming a New Patient:
Getting Established at Dexter Family Practice

Telephone Calls:
The office staff is trained to decide which patients need to be seen on the same day or can be advised on the telephone by the provider.

Test Results:
The results will be discussed on your next office visit with the provider. You will be notified any results that need immediate attention.

Prescription Refills:
For your own safety and protection please make refill requests at least 48 hours in advance. This allows us to review your medical records.

Appointment Policy:
Missed appointments are disruptive. If you miss three appointments within a period of 1 year without canceling beforehand, you will be asked to find another practice.

Out of Hours Service:
When the office is closed your call will be answered by a triaging nurse service who will help you with your problem or inform the physician on duty who will contact you and provide appropriate care.

Services Provided:
We provide comprehensive primary care services including urgent care for walk-in patients. We also provide some general surgical, urology, and gynecology services, as well as maternity care.

We provide care for all age groups which include treatment for colds, coughs, flu, bronchitis, earaches, burns, cuts, bruises, sprains, fractures, skin conditions, chest pains, difficulty in breathing, acute pain of any nature, including abdominal pain and back ache.

We also provide care for chronic health ailments including:

Maternity Care:
We provide from preconception counseling to the delivery of the baby. Normal delivery with minimum intervention is our goal. Care for expected Twins is provided. We can use suction, forceps or C-section if warranted for the safety of the Mother and the Baby.

In-patient Care:
We provide in-patient service for patients who need hospital care.

House Calls:
We will provide house calls on an "as needed" basis.

Nursing Home Care:
For your loved ones we provide compassionate care in one of the area nursing home of your choice.

End of Life Care:
With the help of home health care agencies and the local hospice service we provide quality end of life care for your loved one who is terminally ill.

Specialist Care and Second Opinions Will be provided when necessary as part of your health care needs.

Women's Health:
All providers at Dexter Family Practice provide quality care for all our female patients and our female providers have special skills and interests in women's health.
