Chronic Pain is a complex unpleasant sensation with many connotations to the individual suffering with chronic pain. Our approach to pain management is unbiased utilizing various modalities (integrative) to manage the pain to relieve the symptoms as appropriate to suit that individual. Your personal participation with an open mind and positive approach to the problem is crucial in achieving the maximum that is possible in your case.
All modalities have successes and limitations including medications with their side effects. Your evaluation will be as comprehensive as possible including completing a detailed intake form, appropriate tests / investigations, goal setting based on your individual personality and physical co morbidities (obesity, Stress, depression - such like). The modalities used include traditional medications, interventional procedures, physical therapy / rehab, Osteopathic and Chiropractic manipulations, electrotherapy, infrasound, Acupuncture and other eastern medicine modalities, psychological interventions including hypnosis, bio-feedback, and counseling. As part of ongoing care you need to keep your appointments on a regular basis and abide by the medication agreement you sign. At each visit your medications will be counted, refilled and screened for appropriate usage. The medication use can lead to dependency and addiction and you are expected to openly discuss this with us which will help us to seek appropriate help from a specialist in these areas. You will also be referred for consultation with other providers in the field from time to time if your situation warrants it. You will be discharged from the pain management service if you fail to abide by your agreement, fail to participate in appropriate modality of treatment, and do not work towards achieving your goals. If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to discuss them with us. |
